Do you understand exactly how YouTube’s Content ID system works and do you have an in-house operation or outside provider managing your collections?
If not, it’s not too late! Note: the PROs / PRSs and agencies like Harry Fox are not collecting these types of royalties. Over 90% of the world's music rights-holders, including some of the most established, still don’t realize they are missing out on significant royalties from YouTube.
Do you receive statements from your provider with separate line items just for Content ID royalties?
If not, then you probably are not getting paid. We provide you with reports of every individual video detected containing your music and the royalties earned from each asset with total transparency. In fact, We have clients who have a single song that has been identified in tens of thousands of different videos across YouTube, and that are getting millions of views and earning royalties from the advertising revenue each time anyone worldwide watches one of these videos - this is the power of Content ID.
Is your in-house team/provider supplementing YouTube’s system with sophisticated software for detecting additional claims?
YouTube’s automated system often detects less than half of the possible claims, so we built our own software to automatically find unclaimed videos, which can boost royalties by 2-3X.
Are you getting paid monthly?
Most outside providers pay their clients 45-90 days after the close of each quarter. Our technology allows us to account for and send payments monthly.
Is the monetization performance and configuration of your assets being constantly monitored, audited, and updated?
Managing YouTube’s system is not a set-and-forget operation. With many moving parts and different parties making changes, unsupervised assets and claims can end up with unexpected configurations, causing royalties to diminish. Neglecting this is an easy way to lose half or more of your royalties.
Are separate YouTube CMS accounts being utilized for your master recording rights versus your publishing rights?
Each class of rights must be split into separate accounts to work properly in the system. Setting this up incorrectly is an easy and common way to lose up as much as two-thirds of your royalties.
Is your operation led by a programmer with several years of experience in the Content ID system who knows how to automate it?
Too often we’ve seen automation that is sloppy, outsourced, or simply non-existent. We automate everything possible using professional software, custom scripts, and API libraries built in-house.
Does your contract allow you to terminate service at any time?
Our philosophy is that we don't need long-term contracts to keep clients because they already know we do the best job on the best terms. We’re here to solve problems, not create them, so we never want to stand in anyone’s way if they choose to pursue other options at any time in the future. We’re proud to allow our clients the freedom to terminate our service at any time, because we’re confident that we can provide you with the best long-term service and value for your royalty collection needs.
40% of all online music consumption comes from Youtube’s 1.3 billion users.
Are you taking advantage? Without Content ID you are missing out on royalties from all YouTube videos containing your music.
Once Orfium registers your music in the Content ID system, a digital fingerprint
is generated and used to detect matches in all uploaded videos.
When a match is found, advertisements automatically start appearing around the video which generates royalties to the artist on an 80/20 artist/Orfium split.
Orfium has a direct deal with YouTube (no middle-man), and represents all types of rights,
including sound recordings, compositions, and video. Claims placed with the sound recording
and composition rights together generate 50% more earnings than the sound recording alone.
Artists who have a partnership for their channel with YouTube do have limited access to Content ID, but only for video matches. However, audio matches generate the majority of claims and income.
Orfium can also represent video works in Content ID and we have a Multi-Channel Network (MCN) through which we can grant full access to the YouTube partner privileges.
