Ice Embers is comprised of two guys and a girl, Billy (vocals/guitar), Drew (bass) & Racquel (drums). The band was formed in Ballarat during October 2015 as a garage band between three friends. Drew is friends with both Billy and Racquel and arranged for the three to jam together. After several months in the garage and not content with just playing to ourselves, it was decided to branch out into public performances. The band have rehearsed thoughout 2016 learning and practising together the songs we perform at our live shows. The aim of the band is to play popular songs we grew up with and love. Our influences include Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Jimi Hendrix, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Oasis, Silverchair, U2, Radiohead, RHCP and others.
Ice Embers is a three-piece group comprised of vocals, guitar, bass and drums giving our music a raw uncomplicated quality. Keeping it simple is one of our core beliefs through which we strive to create good music by relying on our musicianship rather than anything else. We think that rock music should be about having fun and that is what we try to do and convey to our audience. A rock music show should be about letting go and feeling free to express yourself.
We enjoy living in Ballarat and particularly at a time when there is such diversity and originality within the Ballarat live music scene. This allows us to find and fill our own niche within the local musical landscape. We endeavour to cover songs which other bands don't play and avoid songs which we feel have been played by every cover band on the planet.
As individual musicians we are each continually learning and trying out new things and challenging ourselves. Playing music is a journey which seems to have no end, there is always something new to learn and master or some new discovery to be made. Ice Embers is a medium or vehicle through which three people with individual talents are able to come together in a cohesive way where each individual's skill becomes part of the whole.
