Electronic music is music that uses electronic instruments, synthesizers, or musical technology in its creation, production, and performance. Electronic music is one of the more recent genres of music simply because of the technology used to create it. In the early 1970’s, electronic music started to influence pop culture and started becoming the base for popular music in general. Electronic music is typically performed live by mixing tracks together on complex equipment using even more complex technology.
Electronic music encompasses a large amount of subgenres such as house, trance, dance music, chillwave, and many more. Because of the way electronic music is performed, namely mixing, any and all subgenres of electronic music can crossover and thus create new genres as the combination of genres become more popular. Many clubs, venues, and festivals are centered around electronic music and its culture. The electronic music culture has taken the most recent years by storm.
